Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
